F and I saw Birdman tonight.
A washed up actor, who once played an iconic superhero, battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career and himself in the days leading up to the opening of a Broadway play.
It was a strange film, although one that held our attention throughout. Michael Keaton, was terrific in the lead role of Riggan Thomson, which was ironic given that he was described in the film by the New York Times critic Tabitha as “a celebrity, not an actor”. Overall the film was well summarised by a post on IMDB: “if you’re waiting for the moment when the loose ends are all tied together in any coherent manner, you will be waiting in vain”. Recommended.
