At the end of a fairly demanding two week mission on our project in the Philippines, whilst winding down before starting to pack to return home to London, I came across this quotation of a remark by John Ruskin, on Mark Bernstein’s Website.
We have certain work to do for our bread, and that is to be done strenuously; other work to do for our delight, and that is to be done heartily: neither is to be done by halves nor shifts, but with a will; and what is not worth this effort is not to be done at all.
Agreed. And if bread can be combined with delight then that seems to me like the ideal scenario. And I’m grateful to be able to say that this happens to me with reasonable regularity.
